When Scoring Points Is a Bad Thing…

Wisconsin Traffic Violations and Driver’s License Suspension

Scoring points is a good thing if you happen to be talking about the Packers’ offense, or the Badgers, Brewers or Bucks. But if the conversation turns to your driving record and traffic violations and your privileges to drive — it’s not a good thing at all.

If you have recently been cited for a moving violation or a DUI/DWI — don’t risk a driver’s license suspension. You can fight the ticket, and the experienced traffic defenders you’ll find at our firm can help.

Call or contact us before you simply pay that ticket.

Attorneys at our firm give seminars and teach continuing legal education courses on the topic of traffic violation defense to other lawyers. Some of the traffic-related charges our firm handles include:

We also represent clients in administrative driver’s license suspension hearings.

About the Wisconsin Point System

If 12 or more traffic points are accumulated in any 12-month period (measured from the date of the violation, not the conviction), a minimum two-month driver’s license suspension is required. If you have not yet accumulated 12 points, you can reduce your total by three points for attending an approved traffic safety course.

Other important facts you should know include the fact that if you hold a probationary license or graduated license, you may be assessed double points; that convictions can remain on your record for five years from the date of conviction; and that alcohol-related and some commercial violations can remain on your record for 10 years to life. Traffic tickets also affect auto insurance rates.
